Hello everyone I'm Sam from BBC Learning English and today we are going to look at the three ways in which we use if only.

سلام به همه، من سم از BBC Learning English هستم و امروز سه روش استفاده از if only را بررسی می‌کنیم.

Narrator

We use this to say that we would like something to be different but careful it has different forms.

از این عبارت وقتی استفاده می‌کنیم که دوست داریم چیزی متفاوت باشد؛ اما دقت کنید که شکل‌های مختلفی دارد.

For the past we use if only plus past perfect.

برای گذشته از if only به علاوه گذشته کامل استفاده می‌کنیم.

Narrator

If only I hadn't left my keys at home.

کاش کلیدهایم را در خانه جا نگذاشته بودم.

Narrator

For the present we use if only plus past simple.

برای زمان حال از if only به علاوه گذشته ساده استفاده می‌کنیم.

Narrator

For example if only I understood maths.

مثلاً: کاش ریاضی را می‌فهمیدم.

Narrator

Or if only I were better at maths.

یا: کاش در ریاضی بهتر بودم.

Narrator

Where we use were instead of was.

که در آن به جای was از were استفاده می‌کنیم.

Narrator

And to talk about the future we use if only plus would plus a verb.

و برای صحبت در مورد آینده از if only plus would plus یک فعل استفاده می‌کنیم.

For example if only he would call.

مثلاً: کاش او تماس بگیرد.

Narrator

If only English were easier hey.

کاش انگلیسی آسان‌تر بود، نه؟
